
Wikipedia is an awesome, fantastic resource. An entire section of my website is dedicated to awesome things that I find on Wikipedia. However, a lot of Wikipedia’s success can be attributed to obscurity; originally, it wasn’t worth anything for people or companies to go to the website and modify their own entries. Unfortunately, this has changed over time, and going to Wikipedia today is becoming like a visit to PRWeb. Yes, it is nice to be able to see the press releases of major companies, but they do not belong within the realm of an encyclopaedia. There should be a veneer of impartiality at Wikipedia, but there are many examples to the contrary, none more egregious or outrageous as that of the General Motors article.
